Alabama Rock Hunting - Paint Rock Agate, Jackson Co. Alabama - March 17, 2024
Come with us on another trip into the Paint Rock Valley in Jackson County Alabama and up the mountains to around 1300 to 1500 feet to find beautiful Paint Rock Agate.
Paint Rock Agate is sometimes called Dripping Springs Agate or Greasy Cove Agate. Paint Rock Agate occurs in the Paint Rock Valley on the Cumberland Plateau near the Alabama and Tennessee border. Paint Rock Agate has colors of yellow, orange, white, red, black, gray, and blue with banding or quartz formation at the center of the nodule occasionally occurring. Cut and polished it is semi translucent.

Hunted the second day after the second split opener in a big rice field in St. Charles, AR. The specklebellies cooperated really well. We didn't see a lot of ducks but the ones we did see also cooperated. Happy Hunting!

A 2nd season opening day hunt in a large rice field in Turkey Scratch, Arkansas. Chance (yellow lab) and Amos (black lab) did a great job retrieving all the birds. Rain and lightning early but it turned out to be a great day. Happy Hunting!

Come with us on a Shark cage dive about 3 miles out off the North Shore of Oahu near Haleiwa with North Shore Shark Adventures. We were lucky to see humpback whales on our ride out to the cage. We took a leisurely pace on horseback through quiet forests and along dirt trails and experienced the spectacular scenery of Kualoa Ranch and the iconic Ka’a’awa Valley and Koolau Mountains. An awesome early December hunt in a slough in the woods near a large rice field in Palmer, Arkansas. Mallards, Teal, Gadwalls and Wood Ducks all retrieved by Amos, the black Labrador retriever.

Where the second pillbox?
I did not film it. It is on top and thru the woods to the right of this first pill box if I remember correctly. Happy Hiking!

I live in Skyline, overlooking Paint Rock Valley. I'll never leave this area! Known as the Amazon of Southeast America and the most beautiful place to be during spring and fall. We also have enough foraging plants, berries, and mushrooms for food and medicine to survive on for a full human lifespan. Oh and most of these plants fight and prevent cancer.
No doubt, it's beautiful and full of natural resources! Happy Hunting!

I do not but some do. I like to wet cut the agate for beautiful coasters and sun catchers. Happy hunting!

Yes or farm equipment broke it or the ancients were know to intentionally 'kill' (break) an artifact in a burial or other ceremony

I would imagine polished cabs and cut pieces would have value. The raw material not as much but it is really beautiful in the hands of those that can work it.

Great video! Is this on Bingham? I see in the comments you recommend 1300’ as a good spot for locating agate. What about the top of the mountain at around 1700’? Would that be too high?
We find most of the good, solid pieces of agate in that 1300' zone but I'm sure a bit higher has some as well. I do know that below this level the agate is space to none. Happy Hunting!
OMG!! It's absolutely Gorgeous!! I wish I could be living in the country where I could be walking/ rock hunting in the woods! Such beautiful scenery ( loved that you shared the ride) and very interesting to see the blueish/ green water! I live in Florida, so it's almost the same color as the Gulf of Mexico. This was in the power line cut on Rideout Road
This year will be the first year in several years since I hunted rsa. I have hunted it for years and the last turkey I killed on there was exactly where you’re talking about. Right in that little bend.
@@ronalexander4955 I am not sure what areas are available for turkey hunting and I believe only military can hunt turkey but I could be wrong.

Before the road gets to the restrooms, there is a trail on the right that will being you to a "frontal" view of the falls. A much better view of the falls. Oh, on the way you will pass the caves, a very unique rock structure, probably from millions of years ago. There is limited parking there.

Keep in mind, the vast majority of artifacts for sale on the open market are counterfeit
Yes, it should always be buyer beware. Know the artifact types, lithic materials and usual patina for your area of the country. I am familiar with central southeast but would be a novice and unknowledgeable in other areas of the country.
